Personal Statement
I have attended two schools during my education, Andrews Endowed Primary School, and I am now attending Eggars school.
I am taking the following GCSE subjects:
Music
German - modular
Business studies
Information System
Food Technology
RE
English Language
English Literature
Science (Double award)
Maths
I have learnt a lot from my studies and now have a better understanding of the subjects I am taking. I am hoping to gain a wider knowledge of the subjects I am taking and to show a greater understanding in them.
At school I am a prefect, I help to run Eggars Christian Fellowship, and am a senior Librarian in the Learning Resource Centre (LRC). The positions of responsibility I have held in my form are, form captain, charity representative, and librarian. I come into school after hours to attend clubs and to help in School musical evenings and open evenings.
In year 10 I attended Calshot, Multi-activity centre, and took part in industry week and I enjoyed them both extremely. These two events taught me how to work in a team with my friends.
Out of school I enjoy cycling, hiking, mountain climbing, using my computer and listening and playing music. I used to do an after school paper round, and work in Stead and Simpson shoe shop, but had to stop working to concentrate on my studies.
I am hard working, I do find some things difficult and I try to cope with problems in varying ways. I give my spare time to help others, including helping to repaint my local scout hut. My hobbies are cycling, listening and playing music, and using my computer. I would like to try skiing.
In the future I hope to go onto university, and take a career in the sound recording/engineering industry.
In year 10 I attended Bullfrog LTD. For one week of work experience, they design and manufacture computer games. I enjoyed the experience greatly.
I have just taken my GCSE mocks. I am pleased with the results I got, but now I am working hard to improve the grades that werent what I expected and get them to the grades I want. My results are as follows:
Maths
English Language - C
English Literature - C
Science (core) - B
Science (Higher) - A
Food Technology - C
Music - B
Business Studies - A
Information Studies - B
Science (Double Award)
I enjoy science greatly even though it is sometimes hard. I enjoy the practicals but do not enjoy writing up conclusions for the practicals. We mainly do theory work that I enjoy. I achieved an overall B in my GCSE mock examination
English (language and literature)
I find this subject very difficult. With our new teacher I am beginning to enjoy it more and I am pleased with the coursework results I have achieved. I achieved a C in Language and a D in Literature in my mocks. I am now trying hard to improve on those grades.
Maths
I have recently moved up to A set. I have settled in well and enjoy working at a faster pace. I achieved a C in my mock but I think I can achieve an A in maths if I work hard.
German (Modular)
I am doing well in this subject and I am pleased with my module test results. I achieved 111 out of 160 for my modules 1-3. In module 4 I need to match this to achieve the result I want.
Business and Information studies
This is quite hard as it is two separate GCSEs but it is a very interesting subject. I find it very enjoyable and pleased with my Mock exam results. In my mocks I achieved an A in Business studies and a B in Information systems.
Music
This is the hardest subject that I have taken. It is very hard but it is made fun. We are made to do mainly practical with as little theory as possible except for the GCSE syllabus. I achieved a C in my mock (including all performances) and a B in my written exam. I believe that I can Improve and get an A.
RE
I look forward to this lesson and I try to work my hardest in it. It is hard to concentrate but is very informative.
Food Technology
This is a very enjoyable lesson and I have learnt a lot about nutrition and food legislation. I achieved a C in this subject. I have three coursework tasks to complete and I believe that I can do well in them.
I enjoy playing the Piano and Clarinet. I have taken grades 1 5 on Piano and passed all of them, including grade 1 with distinction. I have also taken grade 3 clarinet and passed and I am now working towards grade 5.
I play keyboards in a Christian band called Think Ridiculous, and have played in two youth events. We are soon playing in a youth event in February. We practise every Thursday and hope to play in some concerts and more youth events. We have recently started writing our own songs, including two of mine and are intending to perform them in our next concert.
In year 10 I attended work experience with Bullfrog Productions ltd which is now part of Electronic arts. I really enjoyed the experience and hope to go back during the holidays to do some holiday work for them.
